I rode 25 miles last night with a great group of friends that belong to the Blackhawk Bicycle Club. Even though it was almost 95 degrees and very humid, it actually was a lot of fun when you have a group to ride with. There was a breeze of sorts and having conversations along the way on all kinds of topics helps the miles go faster. There are all levels of bikers in the club, and all are more than willing to give great advice on anything from equipment, keeping healthy, rules of the road and tips for going faster. No one is left behind and the company is great. We had a potluck in the shelter at Baumann Park in Cherry Valley and the food was great, even the bag of chips I brought. If you are a biker and don’t want to ride alone and want to get better, check out the Club on their website. I did and it has really paid off in my performance and I have lost 19 pounds since i joined, only $15.00, cheap.
Best of luck on your ride – the training will pay off and nice thing about riding in hot weather is you generate your own wind to cool you off a bit. Can’t think of a better way to bring Homer home!
